Vermillion Pictures is based in Long Island City New York, the company produces two to three films a year, as well as special exhibitions and trans-media, with a focus on both studio and independent productions.

DAMIAN CALVO – Director, Cinematographer
Raised in Madrid and New York City, Damian is an independent filmmaker, photographer, Co-Founder of of Vermillion Pictures. INDEPENDENTLY BLUE, which he wrote and directed is currently in post production. Damian began a professional career in film as an Apprentice Editor working for Emmy winning Editor Stuart Pappe as well as Academy Award winning Editors Dan Hanley and Mike Hill. Damian’s first 16mm short THE DEVIL, depicting a futuristic adaptation of a Guy De Maupassant short story, was an official selection at the Chicago Underground Film Festival. Damian went on to work for NYU TISCH Film Acting Program at Stonestreet Studios as a cameraman, editor and sound mixer on several short films which screened at festivals such as Santa Cruz Film Festival, Back East Picture Show, and Great Lakes International Film Festival. He wrote and directed BLOW AWAY inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s “Three Day Blow” which went on to win the Audience Award at the legendary Two Boots Pioneer Theater. Damian then turned to writing and directing a longer film. He worked closely with a group of actors from the Atlantic Theater Company and produced INDEPENDENTLY BLUE. Damian continues to collaborate with other filmmakers with similar artistic philosophies. He collaborated as a Cinematographer on shorts like FOREVER YOURS, produced at Center for Advanced Digital Applications and featured by New York Magazine. In 2010 Damian spearheaded the Cinema 21 project on MUBI, producing and directing a series of short documentary conversations with influential 20th century filmmakers. Damian currently works out of his Long Island City studio where he produces films and  photography with the goal of “illuminating mankind by illuminating things, while making some honest money to pay for electricity”.

JUAN CALVO – Photographer, Artist
Juan Calvo, Head of Development. He is an Award-winning photographer and painter with a body of work that spans more than 30 years. In October 2012 he will be presenting the first in a series of exhibitions of photographic prints in Granada Spain.

EVERETT WENG – Creative Director, Designer
Currently Everett Weng is focusing on several freelance Illustration, and Graphic Design projects. Everett oversees all facets of the creative process for Vermillion Pictures. His core foundation in drawing, painting, and sculpture is combined with digital work in Illustration, Graphics Design, Motion Graphics and Film/Video production. His exceptional skill in drawing and clay modeling, have earned him international commissions. His experience is grounded in over a decade of  work in the New York City Art and Film community.
